Anaesthesia Made to Measure

NICE (UK) recommends depth of anaesthesia monitors

On 21 November, NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) has published final guidance recommending the use of EEG-based depth of anaesthesia monitors as options in patients receiving total intravenous anaesthesia and in patients who are considered at higher risk of adverse outcomes during any type of general anaesthesia. This includes patients who are at higher risk of unintended awareness and patients who are at higher risk from excessively deep anaesthesia.
The Narcotrend is one of the recommended monitors.
