The principle of Narcotrend® monitoring was presented during the EXPO 2000 in Hanover as a “Worldwide Project”.
At Hanover Oststadt Hospital, an in-depth exhibition about the history, present and future of anesthesia was presented. Diagrams, a multimedia presentation and numerous exhibits informed visitors about the progress in anesthesia and the benefits of environmentally viable and patient-friendly anesthetics. A modern, fully equipped anesthetist’s workspace including EEG monitoring could be viewed.
On the EXPO area, the project was represented in both the German pavilion and the “Global House - House of Worldwide Projects”.
Audience as well as media were highly interested in the EXPO project, and the resonance was overwhelmingly positive. Visitors from Germany and abroad visited the presentations and learned about how the anesthesia monitoring system Narcotrend® works.

Awards for the EEG Project "Narcotrend: Anesthetics in Moderation”
2006
On October 10, 2006, the Inventors' Center Northern Germany (EZN) celebrated its 25th anniversary. The EZN was founded in October 1981 within the framework of an initiative by the then-government of the State of Lower Saxony. During those 25 years, around 13,000 inventions were assessed, and around 1,000 patent registrations were supported.
In the presence of Lower Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Walter Hirche, the project "Narcotrend: Anesthetics in Moderation” was awarded the prize for the most outstanding innovation supported by the EZN during its first 25 years.
2011
On October 10, 2011, the Inventors' Center Northern Germany (EZN) celebrated its 30th anniversary.
In a festive setting, 26 outstanding innovations were presented. The Narcotrend® development group was invited to present their system for determining the depth of anesthesia during the event.
The project “Anesthetics in Moderation (Narcotrend)” received one of the three honorary awards for outstanding inventions.
EXPO 2010 in Shanghai
“EXPO 2000 – Ten Years Later”, July 9 through 11, 2010
As part of the presentation of the state of Lower Saxony, the state capital Hanover was represented with the topic “EXPO 2000 – Ten Years Later”. The Worldwide EXPO Project “Anesthetics in Moderation (Narcotrend)” was presented on July 10 and 11 in the “Urban Best Practice Area”.
Narcotrend® Training Centers in China
On March 29, 2010 the opening ceremony for the Narcotrend® Training Center for Asia took place at Ruijin Hospital in Shanghai. The Ruijin-Hospital had been recognized as an official EXPO Hospital.
Subsequently, further Narcotrend® training centers were opened in China, e.g., at Guangdong General Hospital in Guangzhou, and at the Beijing Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) in Beijing.
